Blog Writing Tips

How to Write Blogs Efficiently

  • Come up with 3 things before you start writing:
    • Your topic
    • The link you want to include
    • Where you will publish it (you don’t want to write a blog with nowhere to publish)
  • Once you have your topic / angle in mind, take a giant step back and look at the big picture, coming up with a list of subtopics / questions. You can write them all in your document, like an outline.
  • You don’t need to answer every single question with its own heading, but keep in mind that anyone reading the article will probably have these same questions and they should be addressed in some way, even if briefly.
  • Example topic: When are punitive damages awarded?
    • What are personal injury claims?
    • What are damages?
    • What are different types of damages?
    • What are punitive damages + why do they exist?
    • When are punitive damages used?
    • Are there limits?
    • Who gets them?
    • Does it differ per state?
  • Another example: Does workers comp cover dog bites?
    • What is workers comp?
    • Who and what does it normally cover?
    • Where/why might an employee encounter a dog at work?
    • So does workers comp cover it?
    • Does it differ by state?
    • If workers comp doesn’t cover it, what does?
